Islamabad Introduces Online Driving Licence Services

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has introduced an online facility allowing residents to apply for learner driving permits, renew existing driving licences and request duplicate licences without visiting traffic police offices to submit their applications.
The new arrangement took effect on October 19, 2026, as part of efforts to make licensing services more accessible and reduce the need for in-person visits.
Which Driving Licence Services Are Available Online?
The online system covers three services:
- Learner permits: Apply for a learner driving permit online.
- Licence renewal: Submit an application to renew an existing driving licence.
- Duplicate licences: Request a replacement licence if the original is lost or damaged.
Applicants can access the services through the official Islamabad Traffic Police licensing portal.
Renewed and Duplicate Licences to Be Delivered by Courier
Islamabad Traffic Police has said renewed and duplicate driving licences will be delivered to applicants’ residential addresses through TCS courier service.
The change is intended to save applicants time by reducing the need to return to traffic police offices to collect their documents.
Authorities have advised applicants to enter their complete names, accurate residential addresses and active mobile phone numbers when submitting applications. Incorrect or incomplete information may delay delivery.
Where to Apply
Residents can access the online facility through the official Islamabad Traffic Police Driving Licence Issuance Management System (DLIMS) portal:
Official portal: https://dlims.islamabadpolice.gov.pk/
Applicants should check the portal for the latest application requirements, applicable fees and payment instructions before submitting a request.
According to the announcement, applications for the three services shifted online from October 19, with these application services no longer being handled at Traffic Headquarters in Faizabad and other police facilitation centres.
What This Means for Islamabad Residents
The move expands the use of digital services for routine government procedures in the federal capital. Online applications and courier delivery could reduce travel, waiting time and repeat visits for people renewing or replacing their licences.
Applicants should still follow the official instructions carefully and ensure their contact and delivery details are correct. The online facility does not remove the requirement to meet the applicable licensing rules.
As the system rolls out, residents should rely on the official DLIMS portal for current procedures and any changes to service availability.
TEKZARO will continue to follow developments in Pakistan’s digital public services.
