Ufone Achieves Global Recognition at Dragons of Asia 2026

Pakistan’s telecom operator Ufone has secured international recognition for its marketing campaigns at the Dragons of Asia Awards 2026, winning two awards for creative work built around its Super 5 package and a campaign featuring cricket star Babar Azam.

Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), which operates Ufone, received a Gold Dragon in the “Best in Media” category for its Super 5 campaign and a Black Dragon in the “Marketing Discipline” category for “Babar Azam’s Lost Phone.”

The recognition highlights the role of locally developed advertising campaigns in competing across Asia’s marketing communications industry.

Ufone Wins Gold for Super 5 Campaign

Ufone’s Gold-winning Super 5 campaign promoted a package that allows customers to share data, calls and SMS with four other people.

The campaign featured comedian and television host Tabish Hashmi alongside former Pakistan cricket stars Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik, Abdul Razzaq and Saeed Ajmal, members of Pakistan’s 2009 ICC T20 World Cup-winning squad.

Launched in February 2026, the campaign used teaser videos in which the cricketing legends hinted at a mysterious selection. The reveal turned the speculation into an advertising concept, showing the players competing for a place in Tabish Hashmi’s Super 5 group.

The campaign ran across television and digital platforms, using humour, familiar sporting personalities and a consumer-focused product message to attract audience attention.

Babar Azam Campaign Receives Black Dragon

Ufone also received a Black Dragon in the Marketing Discipline category for “Babar Azam’s Lost Phone,” which promoted its Weekly Grand Offer.

Launched in February 2025, the campaign began with Babar Azam announcing on social media that he had lost his phone and contacts. The story was subsequently revealed as part of a Ufone advertising campaign, with the cricketer searching for his phone alongside fans.

The campaign reportedly attracted more than 10 million views and generated online discussion around its central storyline.

What Are the Dragons of Asia Awards?

The Dragons of Asia Awards recognise marketing communications campaigns across Asian markets. The programme evaluates work on factors including strategy, originality, execution and results.

Unlike awards that focus solely on creative presentation, the Dragons programme places emphasis on the effectiveness and measurable outcomes of campaigns.

Ufone’s two awards recognise separate campaigns and categories, reflecting its work across media and marketing communications.

Recognition for Pakistan’s Telecom Industry

The awards add to Ufone’s recognition at the Dragons of Pakistan 2026, where Ufone and Telenor Pakistan collectively secured nine awards, including two Gold, two Silver and five Black Dragons.

The latest international recognition demonstrates how Pakistani brands are using locally relevant storytelling, celebrity partnerships and digital distribution to reach audiences.

For Ufone, the awards highlight campaigns that connect telecom packages with entertainment and popular culture. For Pakistan’s marketing industry, they provide further visibility for campaigns developed for the domestic market and recognised at a regional level.
