Apple TV 4K is Now Even More Expensive, 128GB Model Priced at $299

Apple has unveiled a new Apple TV 4K streaming device priced at $299 in the United States, marking another increase for its living-room streaming hardware. Announced on October 13, 2026, the updated model combines 128GB of storage with the A19 chip, hands-free Siri controls and expanded HomePod audio capabilities, while pre-orders begin immediately ahead of a November 13 release.

Apple Raises the Price With Its New Apple TV 4K

The new Apple TV 4K costs $299, compared with $249 for the previous 128GB model with Ethernet and $199 for the older 64GB Wi-Fi version following Apple's price increases in June 2026. The new model is offered in a single configuration with 128GB of storage, according to TechRadar.

The latest price represents a $50 increase over the previous top-tier version and is more than twice the original $149 starting price of the 2022 generation's entry-level configuration. The comparison is not like-for-like across every feature, however, because the new model introduces updated hardware and additional functionality.

The increase comes as Apple expands its smart-home ambitions beyond streaming. The company is positioning the device as a central entertainment component that can work with Siri and compatible HomePod speakers, rather than simply as a box for accessing television apps.

A19 Chip Brings Updated Processing Hardware

The new Apple TV 4K is powered by Apple's A19 chip, replacing the A15 Bionic used in the 2022 model. The processor upgrade is intended to provide more headroom for applications, games and newer software features.

The device continues to focus on 4K streaming and Apple's tvOS ecosystem, which provides access to supported video services, games and other applications. Its value also comes from integration with Apple's wider product range, including iPhones and compatible smart-home accessories.

However, the chip upgrade alone does not establish how much faster the device will feel during everyday streaming. Apple has not provided a directly comparable performance figure in the launch details reported by TechRadar, so the practical improvement will depend on applications, system responsiveness and the demands of future software.

Hands-Free Siri and a More Capable Remote

One of the main changes is the addition of built-in far-field microphones, allowing users to interact with Siri without first picking up the remote. The updated experience is designed to make voice control more convenient when searching for content or navigating the television interface.

The Siri Remote also gains a Find My-related feature to help users locate it when misplaced. According to The Verge, the remote supports Precision Finding, giving compatible Apple devices a way to guide users towards the missing accessory.

These additions address familiar frustrations with television streaming devices. Searching for a programme through an on-screen keyboard can be slow, while a misplaced remote can interrupt an otherwise simple viewing session.

The benefits will nevertheless depend on how accurately Siri handles requests and how reliably the remote-location feature works in a typical home. Users should also distinguish the new hardware's capabilities from software features that may depend on future updates or regional availability.

Apple Expands HomePod Surround-Sound Support

The updated Apple TV 4K can work with up to 4 compatible HomePod speakers in supported surround-sound configurations, according to The Verge and TechRadar. The feature could allow households already invested in Apple's smart-speaker ecosystem to build a more immersive television audio setup.

The change gives the streaming box a broader role in the living room. Rather than relying entirely on a television's built-in speakers, users can combine compatible HomePods to create a more flexible audio arrangement.

The feature is particularly relevant to households that prefer wireless speakers and want to avoid installing a conventional receiver and a collection of wired speakers. However, the overall cost of the setup can rise considerably because the HomePods must be purchased separately.

Compatibility and supported configurations also matter. The new Apple TV's surround-sound capability does not mean that every speaker combination will work identically, and buyers should check Apple's requirements before investing in additional hardware.

Why Streaming Hardware Is Becoming More Expensive

The new $299 price follows Apple's June 2026 price increases across several hardware categories, including the Apple TV, HomePod and HomePod mini. At that time, the company attributed its wider pricing changes to sharply rising memory and storage component costs amid growing demand from AI data centres.

The broader electronics industry has faced pressure from demand for components used in AI infrastructure, computers and consumer devices. Memory and storage prices can affect manufacturing costs even for products whose main purpose is not AI computing.

The new Apple TV's price also reflects Apple's premium positioning and the additional capabilities built into the refreshed device. Nevertheless, component costs alone do not establish how much of the final price increase is attributable to manufacturing expenses rather than product strategy or other commercial factors.

For consumers, the practical concern is value. Streaming devices from competing brands can cost substantially less, even if they do not offer the same integration with Apple's ecosystem or identical audio and software features.

Is the $299 Apple TV 4K Worth Buying?

The updated device may appeal to users who already own compatible Apple products and want a central hub for streaming, voice control and home entertainment. The A19 chip, hands-free Siri and expanded HomePod support give existing Apple households several reasons to consider upgrading.

The calculation is less straightforward for buyers who mainly want access to Netflix, YouTube and other streaming services. Less expensive streaming devices can provide those basic functions without requiring a $299 purchase, and many modern televisions already include built-in streaming applications.

Owners of the 2022 Apple TV 4K will also need to weigh the new features against the performance of their existing device. A working older model may remain sufficient for ordinary streaming, making an immediate upgrade difficult to justify unless the new audio, remote or Siri features are particularly useful.

Pre-Orders Begin Ahead of November Release

Apple opened pre-orders for the new Apple TV 4K on October 13, with general availability scheduled for November 13, 2026, according to TechRadar. The announced US price is $299, while local pricing, taxes and availability may differ in other markets.

For Pakistani consumers, the US price is not a reliable estimate of the final local retail cost. Import duties, sales taxes, currency movements and reseller margins can all affect the price of Apple hardware sold in Pakistan.

The key question for buyers will be whether the new hardware and smart-home features justify the higher entry cost, particularly for households that do not already use HomePods or other Apple devices.
